Frequently Asked Questions

What is WebP and why should I use it?

WebP is a modern image format from Google that compresses 25–35% smaller than JPEG at the same visual quality, and supports transparency like PNG. Smaller images mean faster pages and better Core Web Vitals. Not sure which format fits your use case? Read our full PNG vs JPEG vs WebP comparison.

Why would I convert WebP back to JPG or PNG?

Some older apps, photo editors, and upload forms still don't accept WebP files. Converting to JPG or PNG makes the image compatible everywhere. Use PNG if the image has transparency or sharp text; JPG for photos.

Does converting to WebP lose quality?

WebP is lossy by default, but at quality 80–90 the difference is invisible for most photos while the file gets dramatically smaller. For screenshots or graphics that must stay pixel-perfect, use PNG output instead — it's always lossless.

Is there a file size or count limit?

No hard limit — since everything runs on your own device, capacity depends on your browser's memory. Batches of dozens of normal-sized photos work fine. Need to shrink files further? Try the Image Compressor or Image Resizer.
